Steady progress!

It has been a few weeks since my last post. I can hardly keep up as the work is going so quickly.  Each day I visit the house there is something new to discover. I love every step of this transformation process.

The 1st step after the demo was framing.  We did not have much framing as the house is staying pretty much just as it is.  But we are rearranging the master bath/closet space a bit to create a walk in closet for David and myself.  We are also converting the upstairs bathtub to a shower.

This will be the shower for the Lego Master and the Professor.  See that square that is framed about the middle of the pic?  It will become a niche to house shampoo and soap.  No more wire contraptions hanging from the shower nozzle!

This is the door  to the master closet.  If you could see our existing closet you can imagine what a change this is.  We have 3 rows of hanging in our home now. You could live in our closet...it is THAT big.  I think this closet will be just right.

As the framing was taking place, the electrician was working like a mad man to get all the wiring in place.  There was hardly an overhead light in the whole house.  Ceiling fans were plugged in with wires running from the center of the room to the corner and then down the wall to a plug.  I know this worked just fine, but I thought it was time that the fans were hard wired.  Lots of can lights to add some brightness in the family room, living room and hallway.  The consequence of all this wiring meant lots of holes to repair.

Sort of resembles swiss cheese.

Once all the electrical was done, the drywall crew arrived.  And when I saw crew, I mean crew. It was as if an army of men descended on the house and got to work.  It was amazing!

This guy was a master on these stilts.  He was all over the place!

Once the dry wall guys were done, the texture crew came and they used their mud to work magic!  They taped and mudded all the seams.  And once that was dry they applied texture to match the existing texture.  Have you ever wondered what texture you would put on your walls if given the choice?  I have not. Let me just tell you that is not an easy decision.  I went with what was already there...a sand texture.

Here is the kitchen again with the seams taped and mudded.  Pretty cool!

Do you remember the pink and purple room?  It almost glowed.  What you did not know was that there was a very heavy texture under that paint.  Hard to describe and you will just have to take my word....it was heavy.  Well the magic of mud made it all disappear.  It is remarkable.

You can see some of the purple which is very bumpy and rough.  Above is smooth.  It is magic!

Another view of smooth walls!
